Sullivan Grabs First Career Win in Inaugural Daniel Lambert Memorial
(Sylvania, GA - April 12, 2025) — In dramatic fashion, Gaffney, SC’s Layton Sullivan claimed his first-ever Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Series victory Saturday night during the Inaugural Daniel Lambert Memorial at Screven Motor Speedway.
Starting from the fifth position in the 50-lap main event, Sullivan maintained a top-five run for much of the night before making a late-race charge. With just two laps remaining, Sullivan capitalized on a late restart to overtake Ben Faircloth, who had dominated the race by leading the first 48 laps. The two made contact in the closing laps, and Sullivan took full advantage to secure the win in only his 14th career series start.
An emotional Sullivan celebrated in victory lane, thanking car owner “Rambo” Dennis Franklin for the opportunity.
“I think it’s pretty frickin' cool, and I can’t thank him enough,” said Sullivan.
Despite the late-race drama, Faircloth managed to finish second and offered a candid reflection on the incident.
“I moved up to take his line away and that was a mistake,” Faircloth said. “Congratulations to Layton — he drove a hell of a race.”
Rounding out the podium was York, SC’s Jeremy Steele, who notched his second consecutive top-three finish. The result also propelled him to the top of the series points standings.
“I had a good car, but third through seventh was a cluster, and I was right in the middle of it,” said Steele. “The long green flag run helped us, but falling back to seventh definitely slowed my progress.”
