Caleb Gay and Tyler Davis Dominate CRUSA Divisions at Cochran

(Cochran, GA - May 26, 2025) - Cochran Motor Speedway roared back to life on Sunday night for race two of the season, hosting an impressive 129 cars across six divisions. Among them, the Crate Racin’ USA-sanctioned Late Model Sportsman (602) and Street Stocks showcased thrilling battles that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

CRUSA Late Model Sportsman (602)
A robust field of 27 cars rolled out for the night’s CRUSA Late Model Sportsman program. Wiley McDaniel set the pace early by grabbing the quickest lap in qualifying, clocking in at 16.278 seconds, just ahead of Caleb Gay’s 16.298.

Three intense heat races sorted out the starting order for the 20-lap feature. Speedy Baughman surged from the fourth spot to win Heat 1, while McDaniel fell to third behind Payton Stevenson. Caleb Gay led every lap of Heat 2, with Griffin Smith and Jason Howell in tow. Heat 3 belonged to Landon Matthews, who went flag-to-flag to secure the victory.

In the feature, Caleb Gay wasted no time once the green flag dropped, powering into the lead from the outside front row. He never looked back, leading all 20 laps and fending off all challenges to claim a decisive victory. Wiley McDaniel, after slipping in his heat, rebounded impressively from seventh to second. Chris Cape of Hartwell, GA, charged through the field to round out the podium.
