Thomas Claims Second Crate Racin' USA $100,000+ Challenge Series Championship

(Eastaboga, AL – November 27, 2024) – Jimmy Thomas, a series veteran from Phenix City, AL, clinched his second career Crate Racin' USA (CRUSA) $100,000+ Challenge Series championship after the Early Bird 50 weekend at Needmore Speedway. Thomas secured the title with a narrow 26-point lead over rookie of the year contender, Bubba Roling of Clay Hill, FL.

The championship marks a significant achievement for Thomas, who previously won the challenge series title in 2022, following his first-ever national tour championship in 2021. Thomas' victory this year solidifies his status as one of the top contenders in the series.

Thomas explains what his second title means, "It means a lot to me because it shows we were consistent throughout all the big $10k-to-win races. This season wasn't easy, and it’s been a tight battle, especially since none of us seemed to have much luck. But we stayed focused and got it done."

Over the course of the seven races that made up the CRUSA Challenge Series, Thomas finished in the top 10 three times, including one top 5 finish at Needmore Speedway in the season opener on March 30. His consistency was key in maintaining his position at the top of the standings.

Looking ahead, Thomas is now setting his sights on his second career national tour championship. With a 56-point lead over Matt Dooley and an 84-point advantage over Roling, Thomas is in a strong position heading into the final race of the season at Swainsboro Raceway.

Thomas' national tour season has been impressive, with 10 top-10 finishes in 16 features, including 4 top-5 finishes. He earned top-5 results at Needmore, Senoia, and back-to-back top 5s at Talladega during the Red Farmer Tribute weekend. His standout 2021 season saw him claim five wins, 11 top-5 finishes, and 17 top-10 finishes in 20 features.

Thomas also expressed gratitude to his sponsors for their continued support throughout the season. "I want to thank Scorpion Race Cars, Southern Luxury Jewelry, All-Star Graphics, Sugarland Garden Soil & Mineral, Wimmers Wrecker Service, High Roller Recovery, and H & R Racing Engines for helping make this possible."

The 2024 CRUSA season will come to a thrilling conclusion this weekend at Swainsboro Raceway with the #Turkey100. The action begins Thursday, November 28th, with an open practice session at 6:00 PM (EST). Qualifying and heat race action will follow on Friday, with B-Mains and the $10,000-to-win main event on Saturday night.
