Williams Scores First MSCLRS Win in Season Opener at Whynot!

(Meridian, MS - May 18, 2025) - The 2025 Mississippi Crate Late Racing Series roared to life Saturday night at the "House of Hook" — Whynot Motorsports Park — where Chase Williams etched his name into the record books with a commanding performance in Round 1 of the new season. Leading 29 of 30 laps in the A-Main, Williams captured his first career MSCLRS victory, becoming the fifth different winner in series history.

Williams’ win also continued a unique trend at Whynot, as the facility has now hosted three series events with three different winners. The C11JR driver qualified second in Group A, then surged to the front in the 6-lap Dash to secure the pole position for the feature. Although Chris McElhenney led the opening lap of the A-Main, it was all Williams from there as he took control and never looked back.

McElhenney, a series mainstay and former winner, settled for a strong runner-up finish, while Hayden Cliburn rounded out the podium with a solid third-place effort.

Anthony Thoman of Florence, MS earned hard charger honors, advancing eight positions from 22nd to 14th in the 30-lap feature. The night also saw consistent efforts from series regulars, including Sid Scarbrough (6th), Monte Skinner (4th), and Eli Thomas (5th).

The MSCLRS now turns its attention to a Memorial Day Weekend double-header, with back-to-back $2,000-to-win events at Hattiesburg Speedway on Friday, May 23rd, and Jackson Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 24th.
