Jackson Breaks Through with Southern Street Stock Nationals Victory at Whynot

(Meridian, MS – August 18, 2025) – Norco, Louisiana driver Caiden Jackson added his name to the history books Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, scoring his first-ever Southern Street Stock Nationals victory. Jackson led a race-high 22 laps en route to the $5,000 payday, holding off Super Late Model regular and hometown favorite Spencer Hughes by just 0.160 seconds at the finish of the 50-lap main event.

The 13th running of the event drew a stacked field of 39 cars to the House of Hook. Jackson rolled off from the 8th position and wasted no time charging forward. By lap 16, he was battling race leader Rod Tucker, who had commanded the opening 28 laps. On lap 29, Jackson made the race-winning move and never looked back, fending off all challengers to become the 10th different winner of the prestigious event since it began in 2013.

In victory lane, Jackson spoke about the pressure in the closing laps:
"I saw Spencer (Hughes) had got to third on that last restart and he's the one you got to worry about late in these things, I saw him get to my inside, but we had 5 laps left, I was going to tear the body off of it." When asked how he would celebrate, Jackson replied: "We're going right back home and going to work, just like my pappaw would want me to."

Hughes came up just short of his first Nationals victory but made a spirited charge to second. Following the race, Hughes said: "I didn't want to get my tires to hot early in the race, and caught a couple of good restarts, but congrats to Meatball (Jackson) and them."

Jamie Boland of Cuba, Alabama rounded out the podium after starting 5th in the 50-lap feature. "I'm proud of this third place finish," Boland said. He also added that he felt like his car was capable of winning, but was pleased with the team’s effort.

Behind the top three, Rod Tucker settled for fourth after leading the opening half of the race, while Corey Neil Jr. completed the top five.
