Mathews, Davis Win CRUSA Weekly Races at Swainsboro

(Eastaboga, AL - September 16, 2025) – Swainsboro Raceway hosted a strong night of Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Division action on Saturday, September 13th, with competitive fields in both the CRUSA Late Model Sportsman and CRUSA Street Stock divisions. Fans were treated to side-by-side racing and late-race drama as drivers battled for valuable points and momentum heading into the fall stretch of the season.

The CRUSA Late Model Sportsman feature brought 15 entries to the pit area, and from the drop of the green, it was clear that fast qualifier Landon Mathews (13) was going to be the driver to beat. Mathews, who set quick time in qualifying with a 16.083-second lap, backed it up by winning his heat and then leading all 15 laps of the main event.

Behind him, Cameron Tribble (1) stayed close but had to settle for the runner-up spot, while Ashley Murphy (41M) thrilled the crowd by charging from 11th on the grid to finish on the podium in third, earning Hard Charger honors with a +8 run. Michael Akeson (31) and Cameron Rollins (29R) rounded out the top five finishers.

Mathews’ victory marks another strong performance in the CRUSA Weekly Racing program, showing speed in both qualifying and race trim to complete a clean sweep of the night.

CRUSA Late Model Sportsman Results:
1.) Landon Mathews (13); 2.) Cameron Tribble (1); 3.) Ashley Murphy (41M); 4.) Michael Akeson (31); 5.) Cameron Rollins (29R); 6.) Josh Guy (15X); 7.) Tracey Weems (25); 8.) Bobby Young (18J); 9.) Speedy Baughman (01); 10.) Dustin Collins (44); 11.) John Ruggiero Jr. (44R); 12.) Trace Woodard (9); DNS – Dawson Lumley (36), Eric Register (12), Cody Whitworth (7).

The Street Stock division also put on a show, with 11 entries filling the pits. While Tyler Sanders (3S) and Robert Fail (49) looked like the favorites early – with Sanders setting the pace in heat racing and Fail topping his prelim – it was Tyler Davis (04) who made the decisive move when it counted.

Davis started sixth in the feature but methodically worked his way forward. Sanders led the opening 12 laps, but Davis found grip on the bottom lane and powered into the lead with just three laps to go. From there, he never looked back, capturing the win in thrilling fashion.

Sanders held on for second, with Fail completing the podium in third. John Bratcher (13) and Jessie Spradley (9) completed the top five. Davis’ charge from sixth to first also earned him the Hard Charger award.

CRUSA Street Stock Results:

The next event at Swainsboro Raceway will be one of the most anticipated of the season – the Crown Vic Nationals, set for September 26-27, 2025. The weekend will feature multiple divisions including Crown Vic Junior, Crown Vic Pro, Factory Stock, CRUSA Dirt Late Models, CRUSA Street Stocks, and CRUSA Late Model Sportsman.
