Miller Keeps Chasing His First CRUSA Title

The Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Crate Racin' USA Modified Sportsman division is one of the toughest classes to win in, but for Huntsville, Alabama driver Jarrett Miller, this season has been at the top of his game. Miller currently leads the national points by 79 points and has been in the number one spot for most of the 2024 points season. Throughout the season, he has collected 4 wins including 4/12 at Moulton Speedway, 5/31 at Moulton Speedway, 6/7 at Moulton Speedway, and 6/15 at North Alabama Speedway. Along with the wins, consistency has been his key to the big points lead he now holds. Miller has collected 11 Top 5's and 16 Top 10's in 18 features so far in 2024.

Miller knows how special this season has been so far, "2024 has basically been otherworldly so far. I’ve been blessed with so much support this year that it makes my job easier than it should be. It’s already been my best season to date, and we are only in June."

Jarrett is no stranger to racing; as a matter of fact, it's always been in his blood. "So I am a third-generation driver, racing is basically all I’ve ever known. My entire family has been around racing since the '60s and '70s. I grew up at the track going with my dad, Jon Miller, or traveling to big races with my grandfather, Dickie Glenn, and camping out. I’ve always known I wanted to race from a young age. I would make my mother time me running laps around my dad's car at night and constantly try to force other people to race against me. I still get called 'Race With Me' by a bunch of people who I used to try to force to run laps against me. Every time I run into Wendell Vinson from Vinson Racing Engines, he attempts to kick my shins to make up for all the times I kicked him growing up."

Miller's family has a rich history with racing but no modified history. So that raises the question: why race modifieds? He explained, "So I am actually the first in my family to run modifieds; we were always late model guys. My first five years were spent running the 602 Sportsman class, but with me being in college, late model racing just became hard for the budget. So in 2022, we took a chance on switching classes over to modifieds, and there’s no doubt it’s been one of the best decisions in my life. Modifieds are just so much fun to drive. To me, you have to drive them so much harder than a late model, and they put on such good racing. We just happened to make the jump over at the right time. With how fast this class is growing around here, along with the series and big shows we have growing with the Tri-State series, it would be hard to ever get me back into a late model." The Chevrolet Performance 602 powered modifieds produce some of the most exciting action with their unique body styles and those 8” wheels with Hoosier H500 tires. This division can simply put on a show each time they hit the track.

He's also very thankful for the support he has helping him week in and week out, "Chase and Hiram Rosser at Rosser Battery, Cale Finley at CFR Performance, Dusty, Dwight, and Mickey at Dusty Quillen at Dusty Quillen Racing, Sam Norman at Rapid Race Graphixs, and my mom and dad for even making this possible. Cant forget Dylan Perry and Sam Seawright for constantly reminding me to “KTC” and always supporting me."

Jarrett will look to add his name to the list of former CRUSA Modified Sportsman champions that includes ('18) Oakley Gillespie - Five Points, TN, ('19) Luke Riddle - Hartselle, AL, ('20) Scottie Hiett - Wedowee, AL, ('21) Rusty Duncan - Tuscaloosa, AL, and ('22 & '23) Chuck Gipson - Tuscumbia, AL. He currently sits 79 points ahead of Keith Coan (Town Creek, AL) in the standings heading into week 18 of the national points standings.
