Cochran Motor Speedway Returns Under New Leadership and CRUSA Sanctioning
(Eastaboga, AL – April 14, 2025) – The roar of engines is set to return to Cochran Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 10th, as the track reopens under new ownership by Jammy McCoy, Cochran Motor Speedway plans to host 12 races throughout the 2025 calendar year, running from May through December. McCoy, who has ties within the racing community, shared insight into his decision to partner with CRUSA.
“It just made the most cents,” McCoy said with a grin. “I’ve known Richie Griffin, CRUSA’s lead technical director, for years—we’ve worked together in various capacities for about 15 years.”
The CRUSA Late Model Sportsman (602s) and CRUSA Street Stock Division will now compete at Cochran under the CRUSA sanction banner, giving drivers the opportunity to earn national points each time they hit the track.
The speedway has also undergone significant upgrades in preparation for the 2025 season. Changes include updates to the racing surface, with McCoy noting improvements like reduced banking and a fresh resurfacing project featuring gumbo clay, sourced through a partnership with a regional clay supplier.
“We’ve been working with one of the clay companies to put some of that gumbo clay on the track before opening night,” McCoy explained. “We’ve also been making some changes to the scoring tower and fixing areas that needed attention while the track was closed.”
In addition to improvements at the facility, McCoy expressed excitement about working alongside nearby tracks, including J.J. Williams of Swainsboro Raceway and Sam Ussery at 441 Motor Speedway, to coordinate schedules and maximize racing opportunities for fans and drivers across the region.

The track will feature five local racing divisions: CRUSA Late Model Sportsman (602), CRUSA Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, Crown Vics, and Crown Vic Juniors. Cochran will also host a Mixed Late Model class from time to time, with its debut set for the season opener on May 10th.
