Page Captures Ice Bowl Victory in Winter Shootout Season Opener

(Eastaboga, AL – January 3, 2026) – Michael Page of Douglasville, Georgia, opened the 2026 Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Crate Racin’ USA Winter Shootout Series in dominant fashion, leading flag-to-flag to claim the season-opening victory during the 35th Annual Ice Bowl at Talladega Short Track. The win marked Page’s second career Winter Shootout Series triumph and his first-ever Ice Bowl victory in Crate Racin’ USA 604 Late Model competition.

Page rolled off from the outside of the front row and immediately set the pace on the famed 1/3-mile “Hornet’s Nest,” controlling all 50 laps while fending off repeated late-race challenges from polesitter Koulten Herbert of Locust Grove, Georgia. At the checkered flag, Page edged Herbert by just 0.364 seconds to secure the $4,000 payday in the Winter Shootout opener.

The victory carried extra significance for Page, who is no stranger to Ice Bowl success. From 2017 through 2021, Page captured five consecutive Ice Bowl victories in Super Late Model competition. Saturday night’s performance finally added a CRUSA 604 Ice Bowl win to his already impressive résumé.

Herbert entered the feature with momentum after earning the Bama Sheds & Pole Barns Pole Award on Friday night. His lap of 13.943 seconds in Group One qualifying proved to be the fastest time of the session among the 32-car field. Despite starting on the pole and pressuring Page throughout the second half of the race, Herbert settled for a strong runner-up finish.

Behind the lead duo, Deisel Jones charged to a third-place result, followed by Hayden Cardwell in fourth and Hayden Ownbey rounding out the top five. The event featured a stout field of competitors from across the Southeast, underscoring the Ice Bowl’s reputation as one of the premier winter events in dirt track racing.

Friday night action saw Page, Herbert, Cardwell, and Jones each claim Chevrolet Performance heat race victories, while David Kay and Landon Mathews transferred through Rogers-Dabbs Chevrolet B-Main competition to earn their spots in the main event.
