Sportsman World Championship at Magnolia Motor Speedway Postponed

(Eastaboga, AL – May 21, 2026) – The Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Crate Racin’ USA Late Model Sportsman Tour and Magnolia Motor Speedway officials have announced that this weekend’s 602 Sportsman World Championship in Columbus, Mississippi has been postponed to August 6-8, due to saturated grounds and unfavorable weather forecast throughout Memorial Day weekend.

The highly anticipated $5,000-to-win event was scheduled for May 22-24 at the famed Magnolia Motor Speedway, but persistent rain chances and thunderstorms across the weekend forced officials to make the difficult decision in advance for teams and fans traveling to the “MAG.”

Forecasts throughout the weekend called for scattered thunderstorms and unsettled conditions beginning Friday and continuing through Sunday night, creating concerns for both racing conditions and travel safety.

The 602 Sportsman World Championship was set to mark the fourth all-time Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Crate Racin’ USA Late Model Sportsman Tour event at the Johnny Stokes-owned facility. Mario Gresham has captured two of the previous series events at the speedway, while Bryson Mitchell scored the inaugural victory during the tour’s first appearance in 2024.

With the postponement, the Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Crate Racin’ USA Late Model Sportsman Tour will now take a four-week break before returning to action on June 20 at Xtreme Speedway in Danville, Alabama for a $2,500 to-win main event.

Last season, hometown favorite Braden Mitchell earned the victory at Xtreme Speedway ahead of his brother Bryson Mitchell and multi-time series winner Mario Gresham in an exciting night of racing.

The June 20 event at Xtreme Speedway will also feature CRUSA Modified Sportsman, Mini Stocks, Factory Stocks, FWD, and the Xtreme 365 Late Models.

Updated Schedule:
June 20 | Xtreme Speedway-Danville, AL ($2,500 to-win)
July 3 | Pine Ridge Speedway-Guntown, MS ($1,000 to-win)
July 4 | Pine Ridge Speedway-Guntown, MS ($2,500 to-win)
August 6-8 | Magnolia Motor Speedway-Columbus, MS ($5,000 to-win)
