Exum Claims Morgan Sheffield Memorial at Needmore! Herrington, Garver Also Score CRUSA Wins
(Eastaboga, AL – September 28, 2025) – Needmore Speedway hosted one of its most meaningful and action-packed nights of the year on Saturday, September 27th, with the 7th Annual Morgan Sheffield Memorial and Childhood Cancer Night. The evening featured a full slate of racing and fundraising efforts in honor of childhood cancer awareness month, capped off by a dominant victory from Cole Exum in the headlining CRUSA Late Model Sportsman division.
The night’s marquee event, the 30-lap Morgan Sheffield Memorial for the CRUSA Late Model Sportsman, saw Cole Exum (No. 127) make a statement. Exum set fast time in qualifying, started from the pole, and never looked back, leading all 30 laps to secure the $3,016 victory.
Behind him, Bubba Roling last year's event winner (No. 515) and Bubba Whitener (No. 06) battled hard throughout the race, ultimately finishing second and third. Grayson Ott and Ches Chester rounded out the top five in a highly competitive feature that saw several of the region’s top Sportsman drivers in action.
Exum’s wire-to-wire win made him the latest name etched into the prestigious Morgan Sheffield Memorial history books.

The CRUSA Dirt Late Model division produced another flag-to-flag performance, this time by Wil Herrington (No. 5). Herrington was nearly untouchable, grabbing the lead at the drop of the green and never relinquishing it across the full 25-lap distance.
Bubba Roling (No. 515) added his second runner-up finish of the night, while Matt Dooley (No. 18) crossed the line in third. Kam Boyd and Nevin Gainey completed the top five as Herrington celebrated a $1,516 payday in front of the Needmore crowd.
The CRUSA Street Stocks produced a hard-fought 15-lap battle, but it was Jason Garver (No. 27) who grabbed the early lead and never let go. Garver led every lap en route to victory over Devin Walker (No. 55JR) and Richard Livernois (No. 71).
Rounding out the top five were Wes Davis (No. 77) and Bubba Christian (No. 04). The win added Garver’s name to the list of standout drivers finding victory lane on one of Needmore’s biggest nights of the year.
Beyond the racing action, the event carried a powerful message of unity and support. During intermission, every driver joined fans in the grandstands for a “Pass the Helmet” donation drive, with proceeds going to a childhood cancer foundation in recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
The heartfelt moment added depth and meaning to a night already filled with adrenaline and competition, showcasing the racing community’s commitment to honoring the memory of Morgan Sheffield and supporting an important cause.
