Steele Captures 21st Annual Governors Cup Victory at Magnolia

(Columbus, MS – October 11, 2025) – York, South Carolina’s Jeremy Steele etched his name into Magnolia Motor Speedway’s history books on Saturday night, claiming the 21st Annual Governor’s Cup with a commanding performance in the Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Series. Steele led 70 of 75 laps in the $10,000-to-win main event, fending off all challengers to earn his third series victory of the 2025 season and strengthen his grip on the national points lead.

“This place is awesome—one of the best race tracks I’ve ever been to,” said Steele in Victory Lane. “That’s probably the hardest race I’ve ever won."

Steele’s path to victory wasn’t without adversity. Midway through the event, Austin Yarbrough surged to the front and appeared poised for a career-defining win before suffering a heartbreaking engine failure while leading on lap 41. Steele reassumed command and never looked back, taking the checkered flag and a major step toward the 2025 championship.

Behind Steele, Randall Beckwith charged from his 10th-place starting spot to finish second. Current runner-up in points, Joseph Brown, rallied from 12th to third, keeping his championship hopes alive entering the bonus race at Charlotte. Nick Thrash and Corey Neil Jr. rounded out the top five in a talent-packed 25-car field.

Several points drivers faced tough luck during the 75-lapper. Matt Henderson suffered race-ending damage after striking an infield tire on lap 21, while Jake Rainey retired on lap 37 while running inside the top five. Jimmy Thomas and Koulten Herbert both posted Top-10 finishes, and Trent McLeod matched his starting spot in 11th.
