Volusia Next for CRUSA Winter Shootout Series

(Eastaboga, AL – January 21, 2026) — The Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Crate Racin’ USA Winter Shootout Series wraps up its Sunshine State swing this weekend as the tour heads to Volusia Speedway Park for the 7th Annual DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals at the famed half-mile facility in Barberville, Florida.

Fresh off a career-defining performance, Alabaster, Alabama’s Diesel Jones will lead the Winter Shootout Series point standings into the weekend at the “World’s Fastest Half Mile.” Jones captured the biggest victory of his young career last Saturday night at Hendry County Motorsports Park, earning $12,000 and fending off a stout field that included Super Late Model regulars Clay Harris and Daulton Wilson. The win vaulted the 18-year-old to the top of the mini-series standings heading into one of the most demanding tracks on the schedule.

Now, attention turns to Volusia Speedway Park — the largest and fastest venue on the Winter Shootout calendar. Located just 28 miles from Daytona International Speedway, the iconic D-shaped oval presents a unique challenge with its long front straightaway and sweeping backstretch dogleg, producing speeds and racing conditions unlike anywhere else the series will visit this season.

History at Volusia has proven just how tough it is to tame. Brandon, Florida’s Kyle Bronson remains the only repeat winner of the event, capturing victories in both the inaugural running in 2020 and again in 2021. Mark Whitener added his name to the winner’s list in 2022 before Mother Nature intervened in 2023. Since then, Matt Henderson claimed the win in 2024, while Ethan Wilson powered to victory in last year’s 2025 edition.

Preliminary features over the years have showcased a who’s-who of Crate Late Model talent, with past winners including Kyle Bronson, Michael Page, Ross Bailes, Demetrios Drellos, Rye Faulk, Donald McIntosh, Randy Weaver, Freddie Carpenter, Austin Yarbrough, Dillon Brown, Richie Stephens, Brock Pinkerous, Sam Seawright, Matt Herlong, and Mark Whitener.

Drivers will compete in $1,500-to-win preliminary features on both Thursday and Friday, setting the stage for Saturday night’s $10,000-to-win Sunshine Nationals main event.

The Late Model Palooza weekend will feature the Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Crate Racin’ USA Winter Shootout Series alongside the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, billed as the “Most Powerful Late Models on the Planet,” with additional action from the 602 Late Models as well.

Event Format & Points
Drivers will earn points based on finishing position in Thursday and Friday’s qualifying features. The top 20 drivers in overall points following Friday’s event will be locked into Saturday’s feature, while positions 21st and beyond will compete in Rogers-Dabbs Chevrolet B-Mains on Saturday.
